With a unanimous vote and little debate Wednesday night, the Fresno Unified school board appointed longtime administrator Dolphas Trotter as the district's interim superintendent.
Trotter, assistant superintendent of high schools, takes over June 16 as Carlos Garcia heads to Las Vegas to take the top job in one of the fastest-growing school districts in the nation. Trotter is set to retire in October after 29 years in the district.
"He knows the district inside and out. He listens. And people like him," board president David Wright said of Trotter.
