Bet on Microsoft
Microsoft is about to do something real big. They are fully focused and hungry.
I been interviewing with quite a few different types of companies, but none like Microsoft. Most big companies don't know their big and aren't aware of the problems in such a state. MS has moved beyond that stage and knows what they are. It took them some time to snap out of it, but they are back. The key of it all is this. Yahoo lost it's engineering power. Oracle lost their engineering power. Google hasn't. That is where the battle front really is, with the technology and not with the businessmen. MS has realized this finally. Visa is set to IPO. I would bet on them also. If you bought Mastercard stock when they IPO'd two years you would have gotten a 5 fold return.
Cold and Thunderous
In times like these, I must go back to base formation. I must go back to the roots and core of the camp to remember what got me here. It took a lot of effort to get to this position (good or bad). When you swim with the sharks you get bit, but the Great Black Shark rallies after getting bit at attacks with an unforeseen amount of fury and power. There's another new element to the camp

I can see that
The number 1 skill required for an AD is fund raising. This is why the old football coach in big football programs can leave coaching and go into the AD job. All of the players will donate money too their old coach.
The other aspects are business and sports, which are obvious skills of yours.
The most important aspect is that you will be motivated and thus you can overcome your hatred the bureaucracies because there will be a lot.

D Brown says I need to be an AD
sent this out this morning- didn't list you as one of the original 9 since you have other issues to tend to.
let me know what you think:
Gentlemen,
Hope all is well. Not sure if all of you have heard but Poly is playing at Wisconsin Nov 22nd. That is after at san diego state and Montana at home to open the season.
It looks like the program is going places we only could have dreamed about- quite a step up from 14 hour bus rides to Humboldt- good times
Any way- I talked to Payam yesterday. He mentioned that the alumni group- the guys putting together the spring game BBQ and golf- said that there is not much representation from the teams of the 90’s. which may make sense, since I know personally I haven’t done anything for the program other then go to the san diego state game 2 years back.
So here is what I am thinking- let me know if you all are in or not. I think I picked a decent mix of guys that can not only hit up the right people but also has a different connection to various groups of ex players.
I set a goal- I think it is reasonable but I could be way off. I haven’t talked to anyone else other then Payam at Poly. I’m thinking we get a group of 200 guys that will be willing to donate a minimum of $250 ANNUALLY. This would be a solid base that we can grow year over year. This would be money going directly to the Football program- I need to confirm that but I believe so- or we wouldn’t be that incented to do it.
I have a concept of how we can do this as well- we are going to introduce a pyramid scheme to fund raising-HA
I have listed out 9 of us- if each of you choose to take on this challenge here is a way we can do it
Each of you commit to recruit 5 others that will bring in the minimum $250.
Then we each work with those 45 people to make sure they go out and recruit at least 3 others willing to commit the $250 minimum.
If my math skills are correct we would be pretty close to having our 200 member base. The 50k would follow from there. I am sure some will be willing to pony up more then 250.
To recap- each of you pay at least 250 and find 5 others that will pay minimum of 250 and recruit at least 3 others.
You all follow that?
Call if you have any questions.
What do you guys think? How sweet would it be to present Payam- forget Ellerson of whoever the AD is- with a 50k check in April? And tell him we got another 50k minimum next year.
Respond back to the group with any suggestions-
Let me know if you are in or not-
I’m putting up the first 1k- 49k more to go
We get to 50k we will invite everyone to san diego state game for tailgate and party
Lets do this
By the way- we are going to Wisconsin- anyone else have interest?

Maybe I'll have a job bye then!

Cal Poly

pretty amazing if you think about it.

Haters will Hate redux
The government's issues with steroids has been recently focused on two New York Yankees in Pettitte and Clemons. Young Hank Steinbrenner can't take the heat so he started blaming.
"Everybody that knows sports knows football is tailor-made for performance-enhancing drugs. I don't know how they managed to skate by. It irritates me. Don't tell me it's not more prevalent. The number in football is at least twice as many. Look at the speed and size of those players."
Football already has been in front of Congress, and they had policy in place from the beginning. Straight Hatin!!!!!

Election Update
McCain has secured is bid for the GOP. He is already starting to campaign against Obama. The GOP will unite against Hillary, but will fracture in an election against Barack. His strategists have already identified this and begun acting accordingly.
Hillary must win Texas and Ohio in order to continue. Obama has dominated the Midwest and Ohio will probably be no different. I think that Texas would rather not vote for a girl or a black guy. But since their god holds a football and bruthas have lead them to the promise land on the field, they will vote for Obama.
Haters will Hate
A wise man once said that he only tells people one third of what he's doing. That way, they can hate, only on that 1/3rd. W1, can't you relate? You always had a few haters to deal with at any given time. Are you hater free now? Nonetheless, it has been interesting to see so many companies partner with Yahoo in order to keep them from Microsoft. I guess the enemy of my enemy is a friend concept is being played out live and in the flesh. Every software, web type of company is doing their best to prevent the merger. Newscorp, AOL, Google are the biggest three conspirators but there are a lot of underground conversations being had as well. All of the MS haters are trying to coax Yahoo into maintaining their sovereignty.
The High Definition DVD battle is now over. Why? Because Best Buy and Walmart said so. This is something to take a note of. The specification of choice was decided by the Channel and not the customer. When businesses make decision, it usually has to do with profit and not the consumer. So basically we as consumers sat back and allowed the most expensive DVD format to win. Ignorance is bliss, and also expensive. This is scary. When the channel has influence on the development, this usually spells doom for the consumer.
The Z-man has cometh.
You know what? I really like the hiring of Jim Zorn. He represents what my principles are. The main reason why I like him is that the first thing he did was went and hired two brutha's as his coaches(with one of them being named Stump). That's really cool and something that you would do. He will get along with his players and put Clinton Portis in a situation to do what Shaun Alexander did. Hi is a really good guy, smart and likable. I wrote a post on this before about being smart and likable. I am rooting for him because he is seen as under qualified but in reality he may be the best because of his intangibles.
PETA wishes they could do this
And you you thought PETA tactics were harsh!
I wouldn't normall mention this topic on this blog, but I had to because the article specifically mentions Michael Vick in it. The NFL is still after his money.
Is dogfighting worse than the are young rich females showing their private parts on camera?

Michael K. Williams as Omar
DX: In terms of how complex of a character Omar is, on the one hand he says “Omar don’t scare,” but then we see him in jail and he looks really shook …
MKW: Hell yeah, Hell yeah. [Laughs] Let me tell you something… The line between fiction and reality is very thin. That was a real prison that we shot in and it was a room of 100 some odd extras banging on the walls saying they wanted to do all these evil things. At one point it just felt real, the cameras weren’t even there and a lot of energy was in the room, and it was just a weird feeling. I’ve never been in a prison in my life, so for me to be in there and to have all these people who I’ve maimed or robbed or hurt in some way, now they want to kill me. It was like putting a deer in a water full of alligators. And to have Donnie there and to look in his eyes and see something being brought to life in him… ‘Cause you know the scene after Omar shanks the dude in his ass and I leave the scene, right? So we did a couple takes of that, and I could feel it escalating. I would [usually] get off the set ‘til they called me to tape it again, but one take I said “Mike, just stop short and turn around and just embrace the scene,” and I turned around and Donnie was sitting in the middle of all them dudes, a sea of lions, and he had that knife and he was picking his nails with the shank and he looked like, “I’ll eat all y’all” it was just a look, real cool, almost like when a tsunami hit and all the water disappears, that real calm moment? He had that look on his face, and I could see that “I don’t ever wanna go there,” that look in his eyes was a very dark place. He’s a strong individual to be able to come back into that light from the darkness where he’s been. So there was a lot of energy in that prison that day.

Daniel Snyder is the new Head Coach for the Skins
Washington Redskins just hired Jim Zorn to be there head coach. Before discussing Zorn I must make a quick point. Daniel Snyder is now the actual head coach. He did a great job of putting together an excellent coaching staff. He interviewed all of candidates and learned what was needed to coach(be a CEO/Politician).
He gave Zorn the title but don't fool yourself. Zorn's top priority will be Jason Cambpell. They are investing the whole franchise and infrastructure in young Jason. All in baby! It's been proven over time that head coaches don't have the time to spend on a young QB. This is true, but offensive coordinators(in terms of responsibilities not the title) do have the time.
He may be a head coach in title, but in reality he is a QB developing offensive coordinator in terms of roles and responsibilities. Since he was a QB, he already knows how to manage the game. He will take care of that for Coach Daniel. This is like Ownership 2.0(interactive) style. Jerry Jones is like ownership version 1.5.
Basketball players make an easy transition into coaching, why can't football players. It's not rocket science. The reason this is taboo is because it violates the "put your time in" concept even though it truly doesn't matter.
This may seem like a stretch to make the jump from a position coach to head coach. I would normally agree, but I truly believe that life and situational experience is more important that specific job experience. Zorn is a top notch world class football coach, and if he has the political abilities then he is qualified.
Mike Tomlin was a hell of a coach and was a natural politician who understands organizational structure. Even if Zorn isn't a natural but can grasp what's required from a leadership standpoint, I'm ok with that. I think this is very refreshing and Jim Zorn may be like Joe Gibbs(1st term) reincarnate. I prefer him to everyone else, even Mooch.
I'm watching Mo Betta Blues. This may be the only movie with both Wesley and Denzel.

The Birth of the Renegade
Well, he did it again this year, and Arizona's coach said that ASU is now a JC.
If you thought they were good last year, just wait. Dennis needs his thugs in order to feel complete.
You are neither conservative or liberal. You are a capitalist, which transcends both.
Dolphas didn't have the word for it back then, but that it what it is.
We'll see what Danny-boy does next. I prefer Mooch. Fassell is too boring for my taste.
I like McCain but my blackness won't allow me to vote for him.
This the U's top LB. Watch this film. Dude is sick.

The Danny
great take on Super Bowl- couldnt agree more. cant believe football is over. signing day for colleges has turned into a soap opera- pretty cool though.just goes to show how HUGE football is in our country.
UCLA held their class together. could be the beginning of the battle- The U as we discussed cashed in. Florida st may be in some problems.
Im saying now watch Will Hill for the gators- safety that might start and may play some O.
Shaq in the desert? interesting. marion fit that team so well but i think they came to conclusion that they werent going to be able to win with that style as long as Tim Duncan was playing- Nash getting older now was the time. funny thing is they just traded for the most dominant inside scoring threat ever and i dont think they even care if he makes it to that end of the court. rebound and be a presence on D they set.
so you are like Mccain? a liberal conservative. and i am a conservative liberal?Obama did well- romney out as of today.
only thing left is her and Obama- did you see the she loaned her campaign 5 million otday? if it comes down to money Obama could out raise her- that itself is crazy.
The Desert Diesel
What do you think of Shaq in Arizona?
Personally, it may be just what he needed. Hopefully Arizona's running style will get him to lose some damn weight. The Lakers acquisition of Gasol forced this. Arizona can't match up against Utah and the Lakers without some addition muscle. Shaq will also be teamed with two cagey veterans in Grant Hill and Nash which should help in terms of proper utilization.
Now what?
Super Tuesday is over and the dust is starting to settle. The results are interesting but as expected. The biggest surprise on the Republican side is the fact that Huckabee won quite a few more states than the zero predicted for him. This happened because some of the evangelicals decided to vote according to their faith and Huckabee is the only Christian. The GOP vote is a winner take all format, so winning those states hamstrung Romney. Huckabee stole more of Romney's votes than McCain's and put the latter on the stage of victory. Honestly, McCain's my man. I have figured out why. He is a liberal conservative such as myself as mentioned in the Black Republican article from before.
Clinton and Obama are basically tied. Hillary won the larger and coastal states, while Barack's vote came from the smaller middle states. The story can be spun many ways stating both sides claimed victory. Using football philosophies, it would seem that the longer Obama is in the race, the greater chance for victory. This is true for all underdogs. A sense in hope can generate within the perceived lesser that is many times more powerful than the greater. Obama is the underdog in this situation. I'm waiting for the Al Gore hammer to drop.

Super Fat Tuesday
Today is the most important day politically in quite a long time.
The outcome of today's vote actually mean something and the world can be impacted.
Today is also Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday, meaning the biggest party in the country is taking place in New Orleans. Mardi Gras is important because it's part of the healing process. The ghost of Katrina still impacts the city and the power of Mardi Gras and the Jazz Festival is the only thing that can repel her.
Basically almost one half of the delegates are available in today's election, with California leading the way in terms of total delegates. Today can decide who are next president will be. Obama gives the most hope, while Hillary lend stability. I guess the same thing can be said about Romney and McCain respectively.

Superbowl thoughts
The Superbowl was a interesting on many fronts. There was a lot new themes and concepts which highlight the NFL's current status in America. There are so many unrelated aspects that I must shift the style to a bulleted format.
Kanye West said that his song "Stronger" was created to be played in stadiums.
His wish came true because that is the song the Giants stomped on the field to when they entered.
The NFL tried to make the Superbowl glamorous like the Oscars.
It was awful seeing Seacrest associated with football. What is his fanbase? Who likes the guy? Red Carpets and football don't go together because a carpet doesn't look good with grass stains on it. If I was a high school girl, I guess I would have liked it, but I'm a grown A$$ man and I don't need to see a Red Football Carpet. It gave me Bizarro world visions of Boise State's field.
The first drive by New York changed the whole day's strategy. That drive messed up the commercial schedules, TV timeout schedules, and the Patriots whole frame of mind. I don't remember the Patriots even having the ball in the first half.
Steve Smith is a stud, straight up. Eli's blossoming coincided with Steve's development. He was Eli's Bondsmen all playoffs bailing him out of most difficult situations.
Jeremy Shockey lost all negotiation power for the future. He is great(when healthy), but not essential. The rookie TE is really good and has a bright future and is cheaper.
Corey Webster was a stud at LSU his junior year. He got hurt his senior year and has never reached the level he played at in college. Guess who emerged on the scene like he had been great forever. Maybe it's coaching, or maybe it's the fact that he finally is healthy, but he played great.
New York's GM is smooth. He had a great draft and provided a great future. The key was how he handled Strahan. He keep the door open for him and didn't cave in to coaches or fans. None the aforementioned reason is why he is smooth, I just wanted to let people know that he was.
Brady was hurt far worse then announced. He is not a scrambler, but he is fluid in the pocket most of the time save for last night.
New England should have rested their players down the stretch of season. Perfection has a cost, and no human is supposed to play 19 games at 100% effort. It is impossible.
San Diego destroyed New England in the AFC Championship. They physically brutalized them.
David Tyree made the greatest play of his life, just after Eli did. Most young players drop that type of ball in the Superbowl.
If Eli drives up the field to beat you at the end, then you deserve to lose.
The person most vilified at the beginning of year played his best when it counted the most.
Justin Tuck was the MVP of the playoffs. He owned pro-bowler Logan Mankins. He was a personal matchup problem and they had no answer for his size, strength and speed ratio.
The key of the whole game was Kevin Faulk's shaky wheel. Kevin Faulk pretty much made every key 3rd down catch for the Pats this postseason. With him not there, it leaves an extra man to cover Welker.
Assante Samuel is going to the Redskins and was the Patriot's best player on defensively. If he would have made that pick, they would have won.
Number 55 Mitchell for the Giants was a difference maker. He seemed like the fastest player in the box and made some key blitzes.
New York Giants run blitzed perfectly. The best example was that 3rd and 1 were Maroney got stopped. New York blew the line up and set the tone for the rest of the game.
Bill should have kicked the 50 yard field goal instead of going for it.
Secondary coaches who are D Coordinators like to blitz a lot. Why? Because they are best at understanding the affect of pass rush vs. coverage.
New York's ability to disrupt the pop screens was the key to victory.

Nino Brown is free
Wesley Snipes got off!
I had to mention this because he helped make dark chocolate cool.
He ended the era of light skinned smoothness like Al B Sure, Prince, and Christopher Williams.
Microsoft + Yahoo = Google
They also will get a tax break. Our President's earnings will be more recession proof than any other citizen in the country. Somehow this reminds me of the dictators and warlords revenue structure which is to make more than everyone else and to profit on his own people's suffering.
Google is a combination of Microsoft and Yahoo with a little bit of Bell sprinkled in. They started off as a service based search engine like yahoo and evolved to a software company. Microsoft is a software company trying to profit off of web activity like Google and Yahoo.
Meanwhile, the latter is a web company that lacks the ability to become a software company. The software is what will allow them to expand and they don't have the business and technical savvy to grow at the previous rates. Google is adding infrastructure and utilities to their tool belt. This gives them more name power than Microsoft because Google can provide a larger solution. Yahoo stopped playing chess and ran out of options.
I told this to MS today when I interviewed with them in verbatim(almost anyway).
I told them that Google was their number 1 threat and them bidding on Yahoo was a testament.
They had a philosophical interview and asked the following:
What the difference between leadership and management
What is the difference between vision and strategy
What is the difference in a core problem and a symptom
What is the difference between small and large company
How do you think I did getting asked those questions?
The goal is to be so good that they allow me to work in the Bay.
JT Morgan, The Engineering Capitalist!
John Edwards, Attorney General
That is a great call. Whomever Edwards endorses will probably select him as the Attorney General or as a Cabinet member. Because of that, Edwards will wait until a critical moment like February 4th to announce his endorsement.
He is probably negotiating the rewards in choosing each side. Who ever offers the brightest future for Edwards will win his support. Great call! Secretary something John Kerry, and Teddy of the State. Al Gore needs to swallow his pride and run as VP. He can be president later, he will be younger then than McCain is now.
Fool's Arms
He wouldn't get out of his car or something trivial and then went unstable. I'm glad he didn't do something worse.
Like P said, he's got issues man.
