Stocks are real active right now. People are looking for some hope and Google beat expectations in a surprising fashion. Intel, IBM, and Altera also had great numbers so the mood was right for positive suprises. Hopefully all of the frozen tech reqs will melt soon because of how solid the numbers were. Tech was supposed to bounce back in mid to late 2008. Maybe all of 08 will be good instead. I hope so.

You are able to watch The Wire with vision and anticipation. Some people live life with that same vision. It takes vision to become cynical. Now imagine trying to explain to people who never saw the show why the events happen that way without sounding weird. I had to live that scenario every day at work. Even though you know what will happen, those without vision will think you are weird until they live the scenario.

Stringer Bell is tight and that actor probably benefited the most from his time on the Wire. Even though I wasn't paying too much attention when he was on, I could feel and appreciate his swagger.

A Killer with a Code

I agree with you Carl! I don't think Barack wants to deal with them potentially undermining him.

W1, how come you've seen all of those series and specials on HBO and Showtime regarding gangsterism?

To gangsters(like Rich Dad Poor Dad) the only investment they know that makes its own money is drugs. That is how they become successful later is because they learn business that way like JayZ.

I just went and bought "Clash of the Titans". One of my top 5 all time favorites.

Young Michael became Omar. He even had a pretty sidekick to go all with the hoodie and shotgun. I wonder if he also become homosexual like Omar was. That is the hardest character of them all, someone that is both dangerous and strategic. Having a code means one has to follow some pattern or strategy. Michael developed that code and that is what made Omar special. A new generation Robin Hood.

That was comedy when he said that about the $900,000 but old boy had just figured out that Meth set Prop Joe up and he had to do it because of honor. Remember that Omar came to visit him and told him he didn't do it.

Snoop goes down

W1. Over a year ago, you prophesied that young mike would bump off all top gangsters and then run the streets himself. You prophesied this when he was but a fledgling hoodrat working his corner. Sunday nights episode draws your prophecies to a near conclusion. Snoop gets one behind the ear after Mike learns he was about to go.

The writers should have never subtly mentioned the words "her" when referring to Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, cuz when Mike said, "You look good girl" right before he pulled the trigger, 3/4 of the watchers would have crapped their pants and said, "huh? that was a chick?!"

If next weeks finale "fades to black" as Mike walks on up to Marlo, I'm canceling my subscription to HBO and mailing ricin to their corp offices.

Michael K. Williams as Omar

There is a nice article in Hiphopdx.com about the actor who plays Omar. Like most of the actors on the show, he is a quite impressive individual. He is a well trained actor and even mentions some specific technical aspects of character layer development.

DX: In terms of how complex of a character Omar is, on the one hand he says “Omar don’t scare,” but then we see him in jail and he looks really shook …
MKW: Hell yeah, Hell yeah. [Laughs] Let me tell you something… The line between fiction and reality is very thin. That was a real prison that we shot in and it was a room of 100 some odd extras banging on the walls saying they wanted to do all these evil things. At one point it just felt real, the cameras weren’t even there and a lot of energy was in the room, and it was just a weird feeling. I’ve never been in a prison in my life, so for me to be in there and to have all these people who I’ve maimed or robbed or hurt in some way, now they want to kill me. It was like putting a deer in a water full of alligators. And to have Donnie there and to look in his eyes and see something being brought to life in him… ‘Cause you know the scene after Omar shanks the dude in his ass and I leave the scene, right? So we did a couple takes of that, and I could feel it escalating. I would [usually] get off the set ‘til they called me to tape it again, but one take I said “Mike, just stop short and turn around and just embrace the scene,” and I turned around and Donnie was sitting in the middle of all them dudes, a sea of lions, and he had that knife and he was picking his nails with the shank and he looked like, “I’ll eat all y’all” it was just a look, real cool, almost like when a tsunami hit and all the water disappears, that real calm moment? He had that look on his face, and I could see that “I don’t ever wanna go there,” that look in his eyes was a very dark place. He’s a strong individual to be able to come back into that light from the darkness where he’s been. So there was a lot of energy in that prison that day.

Snoop is a key character

It took me some to time to determine if Snoop was a boy or girl.
I was getting her mixed up with the boy who had the pony tail with the jacked up mother. My favorite character is Michael. He has the most potential. He is like young Anakin and can shift the balance of power. I think he will kill Marlowe at the end.

The Wire is one of the best shows in history

I've always watched the Wire. It's getting real good now. I was saddened when old boy got killed last year. He was a staple. The show is done by a former detective and beat writer. So the stories they tell are very realistic. The Wire is like Baltimore for real. It's very authentic and more than people know. I personally think it has the best black acting of any show ever. The show is full of black actors and they aren't dancing, rapping, or playing sports. There is no buffoonery or minstrel. A great show. Why doesn't it get any publicity? This is why your man Tyler Perry does so well. He shows black people in a normal light but in family situations not cops and robbers. When will HBO do a positive black series? Do you know that the the hardest guy on the show, Chris, is the most well spoken person on that show's whole staff. The one cat McNulty has a British accent like House does. I haven't talked with you about it because I thought you were scurrddddd and never watched it.

The Wire

do you watch? did you see last year's season? if not go get the first couple of season's and sit down for a treat. I am thinking you have not watched it since you have not had any comments regarding it. it is a very deep messaged, expertly written, great acting show that is frankly the best thing on TV or anywhere else in years.
