Media v Economy.......

Interesting article jumping on what we were thinking. Granted the source is going to find a slant to prove their point, but interesting non-the less.

I don't necessarily buy into media bias pushing a political objective in this case. I believe it to be more sensationalism reporting than anything else. If it aint sensational and scary, people aint listening.

What's wrong with this photo

I'm conflicted on this one. I can see both sides of the argument. My final thoughts are that people should get over it and that it could have been done classier(if ratings weren't the number 1 aspect).

First of all Vogue is a Woman's magazine. The psychological affect is different on them then on men. It was probably a man who complained. This doesn't anger (all) women. Black women would get mad because they don't want to see any blackman touching a white woman so it wouldn't matter how they posed. Sistas would get mad regardless and were looking for a fault so they could act. At the same time, sistas don't read Vogue so they probably don't even know about it.

Sensitive black folks(like myself) are very concerned over the way bruthas are portrayed and displayed. We don't like to see any Blackman looking like an animal, stupid, or threatening. How many times have you seen a brutha in a suit on the cover of a magazine? You have seen one in uniform many times though. None of the other athletes are in uniform for the other photos. Lastly, the picture looks a little King-Kongish and Giselle looks like that little white girl King Kong was obsessed with.

Now that I think about it, some white people may be upset too. Any images alluding to Mandingo or black man physical prowess while in the presence of an attractive caucasian female upsets people. Not me though, I like to see the boundaries pushed.

So I say let it go and move on. It could be perceived as tasteless and for ratings but definitely not malicious.

New Issue of Vogue

Vogue's created a firestorm with a controversial cover of LeBron & Gisele. Initially, I didn't see it one way or another. I saw it and said "damn that fool's swoll".

There were some other pics they could have chosen, but they chose the one that they knew was going to give them the most publicity for free.

What you think?

Actually....

I dont keep record of what we donate. Should, but dont. Funny response. So noble of those bleeding hearts to donate and not say anything.

Stupid researchers. They should have figured that into their study.

Is there a section to report time donated and blood given on tax returns or they do that incognito as well?

All theory and hearsay, B1, until proven otherwise.

Find a study, other than your accountant and I'll humbly bow to you.....

Charitable Contributions

For tax purposes. Keep it real. I saw my accountant yesterday, and we know the reason. Liberals give stuff away and don't tell anyone. Conservatives fill out the supplemental tax forms for it so the donation is on record that's all. The tax savers just did a better job of reporting. You keep track of every cent you donate probably, like I do!

The Hypocrisy Continues........BOOOM

So it is. They're at it again. The protectors of the poor. The lobbyists for the weak. The Robin Hoods who preach distribution of money to those who don't have it. The bleeding hearts who condemn the mean hate mongering Conservatives for trying to keep those less fortunate down and poor.

Bunch of frauds.

A new study and article out from the Washington Post, "Conservatives give more to charity" punches those hypocrites in the face.

Very interesting article pointing out that those who fight for the well-being of the poor (which is OK) only wants to do it with YOUR money, Not theirs. Including the rich elitists.

The age old saying, "Practice what you Preach".

Media/Economy cause and effect

This a great topic. I don't have my thoughts summarized on it yet. I will get back to it after my power walk. There are two aspects to this. There is the self fulfilling prophecy that the media deals with, and there are the financial speculators that make short term money on stocks and the economy going down. They like the recession talks because it allows to invest for decline instead of growth. Welcome to the game!!!!!

The media is a powerful entity. It's probably the most persuasive force in the world.
Because of the influx of bloggers and text messaging, they have been forced to provide updates real time instead of daily or weekly. The media gets viewers, readers and listeners attention by attaching story lines and management imposed themes to their real time stories. Hence, they have to sensationalize everything. Because there is so much coverage, judgement occurs every second. The number 1 rated stories right now are typically articles about the economy and the media is a copycat league. I think it's shady when the financial reporting media makes announcements to increase their own investment revenue and undoubtedly participates in the practice.

Dogs even have blogs

In following up to your article about Man's best friend, here's another story for you.
Dogs even have blogs nowadays. Once again my theory rings true. People's dogs are more important than other humans. Dogs have internet access and computers when a lot kids don't.

The Media/Economy Cause and Effect

I think the majority of people and consumers don't follow what specific events are happening with the economy. ie. what exactly is causing the economy and the dollar to fluctuate, be stimulated, or tank.

Besides massive issues like the housing crisis, most people haven't an idea whats happening with the economy. They aren't trained economists. They aren't savvy forecasters. Most of the sheep listen in to what the media tells them.

If the media says we're in a recession, then I guess we're in a recession and we better hold back those pennies we were about to splurge on un-necessities.

Is the media to blame for perpetuating the problem? As well as some government officials trying to save their skin by saying that a recession is looming?

If nobody really said anything, wouldn't people just go on spending like drunken sailors the way they have been the last many years?

Of course consumer spending is only a small cog in the economic equation, but it can't hurt when people decide to go ahead anyway buying that 3rd car, or do that remodel, or continue to eat out 4 times a week instead of swapping to ramin.

I don't know. I'm one of those economically challenged persons who only hears this crap through the media. So now my kitchen countertops gots to wait dammit!

More on the Economy

The Economic Cycle Research Institute has officially concluded that we are in a recession and says the government blew it. They had a chance to shift the direction and reacted too late. The worst part is the the fact the Canadian dollar is worth more or equal to ours. I used to like going to Canada because it felt like the whole country was on sale.

Choke gag and puke

What is WildBoyz? That sounds very MTVish. I'm getting old.
I think they should have two people on Bizarre Foods like they do on Fight Quest. That way you see how the expert reacts and then how a normal person would react. I personally can't eat that mess. I won't eat at some places simply because the building looks jacked up, let alone eating food that was crawling on the floor 5 minutes before.

Bizarre Foods.....

No. If I want to see someone choke, gag and puke, I'll watch WildBoyz.

My point is that everything he puts in his mouth does not taste good.

You trying to say that your pallet has been trying to changing these last few years? Have had to take whats been given to you with a straight face?

I would then have to agree with B1. It would take a real man to swollow some of that with a smile.

I'm here because of Ashley

This was a great speech by Obama both verbally and spiritually. There have been some campaign topics that were not available to Obama because the moment was wrong. He really hadn't discussed his thoughts or feelings about race and black cynicism. His pastor's comments gave him that venue and he capitalized.

Bizarre foods

So you would rather see him choke and gag?
They can pay any fool to choke and gag on some of the finer asian delicacies, but a true man takes it with a straight face.

Economy

We are in a recession. But before anyone jumps off a cliff, let me define what it is first. If the United States was a company, a recession would be like two negative quarters in a row with the US revenue being equal to the GDP. Take that combined with income level, employment rates, retail sales and all aspects of financial performance can be measured.

The recession of 1974 was caused by skyrocketing oil prices. Another key factor in recessions is the fact that there was a peak in growth right before that time. The real estate caused a collapse just like the dot com era did. The money maker that gets us out of this recession will put us into another one after it collapses.

Bizarre Foods

The Travel Channel is cool. But my favorite show on there has little to do with traveling to exotic destination spots. This is more a show for The Food Network, but I can guess why it isn't on there.

The show is called "Bizarre Foods". It's hosted by this short, fat, bald dude Andrew Zimmern. The premise of the show is for Andrew to travel across the world and sample strange cuisine from places in Europe, India, Africa, Asia, etc. And when I say strange cuisines, I mean shit that will make a billie goat puke. Stuff that is considered normal for that region, but you'd have a hard time finding in the states. You'd even have a hard time finding the INGREDIENTS here in America.

Bugs, fishheads, donkey, cat feet.

The only problem I have with the show is that the host lacks credibility. *I've watched the show 100 times and have yet to see him eat anything he didn't enjoy. With all the vile slop he's put into his mouth you figure at least one time he'd say, "Yeah, not really my cup of tea. Kinda tastes like I just licked a toilet."......... let alone gag and hurl on his plate.

He will sit with a jungle tribe in the South Pacific and eat liquified stink bug with dustmite crackers and he would ooohhhh and aaahhhh at the exquisite taste.

Perhaps he doesn't want to offend anybody. That's fine, but I don't buy into the fact that everything tastes good. I am an easy person to please regarding food and even I find some normal foods, let alone Kangaroo ass, disgusting.

(* Zimmern's top 10 list of gross foods is bullshift. He's never made one.)

Spitzer

While NY Governer Elliot Spitzers recent tie-ups in a prostitution ring might land him on the unemployment line, at least he's not trying to bang dudes in airport bathrooms.

More on that....

All bad in Redmond

I didn't get the Microsoft gig. Ooh well. I have to shake it off and keep the feet going in order for something good to happen. You never know when a defender may trip and fall. I don't know what else I could have done in terms of making an impression so I will have to be happy and glad for the free food.

And get every cent possible from the expense report!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Dolphas said

10 Years ago:
With a unanimous vote and little debate Wednesday night, the Fresno Unified school board appointed longtime administrator Dolphas Trotter as the district's interim superintendent.

Trotter, assistant superintendent of high schools, takes over June 16 as Carlos Garcia heads to Las Vegas to take the top job in one of the fastest-growing school districts in the nation. Trotter is set to retire in October after 29 years in the district.

"He knows the district inside and out. He listens. And people like him," board president David Wright said of Trotter.

Trotter started as a teacher and served as principal at middle and high schools before moving up through the ...

Dolphas gave me a call today to discuss my career search. You know what he said?

"They are on your two yard line with 1st and goal

Are you going to let them run down your throat or are you going to stand up and fight?

Success(in life) on the goal line is about fighting, not giving up is how you win."

Hell Yeah I'm going to fight!!!!!!!

A Killer with a Code

I agree with you Carl! I don't think Barack wants to deal with them potentially undermining him.

W1, how come you've seen all of those series and specials on HBO and Showtime regarding gangsterism?

To gangsters(like Rich Dad Poor Dad) the only investment they know that makes its own money is drugs. That is how they become successful later is because they learn business that way like JayZ.

I just went and bought "Clash of the Titans". One of my top 5 all time favorites.

Young Michael became Omar. He even had a pretty sidekick to go all with the hoodie and shotgun. I wonder if he also become homosexual like Omar was. That is the hardest character of them all, someone that is both dangerous and strategic. Having a code means one has to follow some pattern or strategy. Michael developed that code and that is what made Omar special. A new generation Robin Hood.

That was comedy when he said that about the $900,000 but old boy had just figured out that Meth set Prop Joe up and he had to do it because of honor. Remember that Omar came to visit him and told him he didn't do it.

I am going to write about the recession soon, I'm in the R&D stage.

Coke, Prisons, The Wire........

I take it you watched the program on Showtime about cocaine and Olie North and crack? VERY interesting to say the least. kind of ironic that right after Clinton changes the penalties on crack and introduces mandatory minimums the federal and state prison systems for the most part became outsourced. over 60% of prison population is non violent drug offenders- but of course B-1 you know this as you have preached this since the origin of this forum. where is the outcry about publicly traded companies "collecting" 30-40k per year per prisoner. aren't there similarities to what Cheaney supposedly had going on with Haliburton? to some degree right? outsource prisons to public companies then change laws to lock up drug offenders for 10 year minimums

anyway- you would have to suggest there was definitely shadey stuff going on with Reagan and the whole contra thing. lot of smoking guns there.

on to The Wire- B-1 had very accurate predictions of what was going to happen. how is it that i was saddened to see Chris locked up for ever- as he was easily the most violent and deserving person of that sentence. how about old dude when he said- you just cost us 900. after method man got it

I am committing to going back and watching the complete series from season 1 and purchasing them to keep forever. they definitely didnt have a fade to black ending and they didnt have any problems not having a happy ending for everyone.

sucked to see dookie end up like that

i was not disappointed

The Unbeatable Ticket: 2

Yes, the powerful, persuasive, smoke & mirrors dynamic duo of an Obama and Clinton ticket would be unstoppable. All the Democrats and the swing voters would have the best of both worlds with that.

Unless you were are strong conservative, you'd have to vote for the hope of change and possibility of something different then what we had the past 8 years. Republicans would be an afterthought.

It'll never happen though. Obamas going to get the nomination and the Clintons know it. Thats why theres so much mention of it coming out of the Clinton camp. I havent heard it once from Obama. The Clintons figure coming in second will still get Bill and wife back in power.

How well is it going to go over for President Obama to have those two shysters imposing their will and policies on him? To have 2 thorns right beneath him second guessing and questioning his every move, publically? It isn't.

While yes, even though they'd proabably be unbeatable I expect Obama to take his chances without her.

The unbeatable ticket

Hello!!!!
Where is the SoCal chapter?

Bill Clinton believes that a combined ticket of the two can't lose.
This is a concession to their previous sentiments. I like the idea if Obama is on top. That eliminates the concept of Obama getting assassinated. Because they will definitely try to pop Hillary and the new president will be the Speaker of the House Pelosi. The haters of Obama will hate his replacements even more.

Freeway Rick Ross

Did you he was the key figure in the Iran Contra scandal?
Did you know that the CIA flew planes and planes of Cocaine into the United States?
Ricky Ross converted it into Crack and allowed the Nicaraguans to finance their own war because America gave them a safe sales channel. Then the government changed the crack sentencing to a 100 times more. Now Bill Clinton apologizes for it while the government is slowly working to repeal the laws, even though he rejected the law change in 1995. Oliver North is a traitor and he killed the African American culture.

Read the book, "The Dark Alliance" by Gary Webb if you don't believe me.
Gary Webb got shot in 2004. Talk about a coincidence.

You can also think about why Afghanistan provides 80% of the US heroin. How did the get they sales channel to the US?

Amadeus
Pegasus and
Watchtower
were the names of the governmental programs that brought Cocaine into South Central.

The Wire update

What do you think is going to happen on the finale?
Marlowe will get out of jail due to shady wiretaps.
Chris is locked up forever.
The Mayor becomes governor.
McNulty dies after a drunk car crash.
Young Mike kills Marlowe and inherits the thrown because he is Young Anakin. He is harder than everyone on the show. By far and away.

And lastly, no one will win an Emmy.

Yup

I agree with you Mr Pohl. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that too often. I can't stand it when people let their children run around the facility unmonitored let alone their dog Mr. Biggles.

Dog People

Celebritards have pushed the "dog people" phenomenom to catastrophic levels. I want to carry a sidearm. What is it with dog people? Why are dogs now considered "accessories"? What ever happened to 85lb Fido on a leash pulling his owner on a skateboard? Where is the beware of dog sign on the side gates of my neighbors?

Every dog now is a little piece of shift, yapping, designer dog. It has a name like Poo Bear or Buttertwinkles, it wears an Armani sweater and has it's own Louis Vuitton purse ride in.

Today, somebody entered my place of business with one of these rodents, put it on the floor and let it run around un-attended. I stared at this thing waiting for it to hunch its back, lower its ass and drop a sweet potato next to my desk. WTF??

Don't people have any courtesy, consideration or respect any longer? Dogs can't wait in cars? Are they afraid that their dog is gonna crap in the back seat and fling dog boogers on the windows? Yeah, probably, therefore lets trash someone else's office. Or house. Or restaurant. I should have stabbed it with my #2.

I understand if someone has to bring a child with them wherever they go and they happen to be unruly. A child can't take care of themselves. But dogs? They can't sit in the trunk for 15 minutes?

We've created this culture where we treat animals like humans. Their not, they're dogs, and if you argue that your dogs are just like humans, then you need to go make some god damn friends. And none of your 10 cats count, loser.

Nice Alter Ego

Nice to have you on board and participating.
All in today at MS. Time for the Great Black Shark to emerge.

Snoop goes down

W1. Over a year ago, you prophesied that young mike would bump off all top gangsters and then run the streets himself. You prophesied this when he was but a fledgling hoodrat working his corner. Sunday nights episode draws your prophecies to a near conclusion. Snoop gets one behind the ear after Mike learns he was about to go.

The writers should have never subtly mentioned the words "her" when referring to Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, cuz when Mike said, "You look good girl" right before he pulled the trigger, 3/4 of the watchers would have crapped their pants and said, "huh? that was a chick?!"

If next weeks finale "fades to black" as Mike walks on up to Marlo, I'm canceling my subscription to HBO and mailing ricin to their corp offices.

Carl's own Blog???

Look at you on the under. only thing you missing is Google ads- and you pissed on your kid? good stuff on there. laughed out loud numerous times. looking forward to your participation.

if we do 50k for on this thing we will blow away what these guys have been doing. I talked to the Joe guy for about 30 minutes this morning. you better tell Sr that he can go to ellerson's house in the spring and have direct contact with him if he wants- just has to join on.

Joe was cool. he said we could play a larger role in this whole thing then I might have wanted- like giving speeches and represented and all of that. figure we let Saadat do all of that- Ha or SR.

we have a pretty good list to work off of from him. funny some of the names on there

45k to go- calling Turner now- ha

Cube

I heard his new one is pretty legit too

who do you want to send invites out to join blog as of now- get the whattheworld crew back together- it is cool we have the infrastructure figured out-

pretty good traction so far on the fund raising- it will be interesting to see how going from 30 people interested to 130 people goes though- i am thinking that will be a challenge.

check your email on the site for fund raising- i think you have a good idea. can use a web site/blog as an open source of communication with transactional ability. it could be something some one would pay for- especially when there is revenue opportunities tied into it- i like the thought process

New Snoop

I probably won't get a job for about another week and a half. Obama needs as much spirit as I can donate to him. March 11th will most likely be the date and it coincides with Snoop's new ablum. Even though I say this every time, this album is his best. There is no question. He has finally fulfilled his potential. Watch! He has evolved into a pure artist finally and has now let it flow.
